I can't remember if you have to pay to drive through Banff National Park without stopping. I know years ago you didn't have to but I thought it might have changed. Anyone know?
Thanks

usually if you tell the officer that you plan to break your trip in Banff (rest stop etc.), you pay. if you tell them that you are driving through, then you don't pay.

No I won't be stopping at all. If that's the case I won't even stop and talk to the officer but use the 'drive through' lane on the right!
thanks for the help.

Been doing that for close to thirty years on trips out to the coast.
Why waste your time and that of the park personnel at the gate.

Just use my cousin from Calgary's one liner of "I'm going to Revelstoke." However if you do stop in Banff, Lake Louise et al and don't have a park pass the the fine is pretty big - was $2000 a few years ago.
