Hi,
For the clean up I would recommend CCleaner -
http://www.ccleaner.com/
It cleans up temp files and a whole load of other files.
That followed by the defrag would be good. A check for spyware using Spybot Search and Destroy would also be good.

However, over the last month or so, I've had this irritating Spyware that all the above failed to remove despite all the top settings.
I then did a search in Google and came up with this FREE software called "Malware" I downloaded it, installed and run a check on my registry and drives, it found the culprits in 15 mins and deleted them - marvellous!
