You may know that my lad and his family have just moved to Edmonton.
His laptop is a couple of years old now and is struggling big time to cope with Skype.
Can you point us in the right direction for getting some additional memory (he has only got 512mb). No doubt there are and good and bad places but he hasn't sussed them yet.
Thanks in advance
Paul

He can buy additional memory at Future Shop or Best Buy and either one will install/configure it for a small fee.

I've used www.ncix.com.
However, you may find your local computer store is just as cheap as online stores, particularly if you're just buying some RAM; shipping costs probably eat up any savings.

Tiger Direct is pretty good, however you'd have to make sure it can take more memory first.

Agree with the above post about delivery charges eating up cost savings!
Check the wiki http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Shoppi...and_Technology for some more options.
I've used Canada Computers and Infonec, and they both have flat-rate delivery charges.

They have a rather nice app that checks your memory set up, and suggests what memory to get.

A couple of year old laptop with 512MB ram should be able to run Skype fine, it's not exactly a high resource application. I'd suggest that the problem lies elsewhere rather than the hardware.

i vote crucial with their advisor tool and no quibble money guarantee...
but, yes, 512mb in an older laptop should be plenty.

Neweggs arrival in Canada was and possibly still is a colossal bust.

I'd seen there U.S. prices and was so looking forward to them coming to Canada and then that.
Hopefully they'll figure it out at some point but I'm not holding my breath.

Probably just needs a good clean up, and tons of internet temp files deleting.
Best of luck
