Nope. Comments from one of my kids now living there. Note that she went to school beside Maple Leaf Gardens so everywhere in Canada, except Montreal, seems to her to lack diversity.
How come getting a sausage in the street in Vancouver is so expensive? How come beer is so expensive?

What's the hype? All cities are pretty much the same, too many people, too much traffic and piles of stone, concrete and wood. No matter how it's put together I can see nothing attractive in buildings, they are just boxes to live, work or keep stuff. I'll stick with mountains, trees and rivers (and airports, not attractive but quite necessary).

Jimi Hendrix's family come from Vancouver. His father was born here and moved to Seattle as a young man. Hendrix's grandparents stayed in Vancouver and Jimi lived with them for quite some time.

Will do. I expect so, as that piece seems to have been funded by King's, one of the schools she went to (.08% minority enrolement at the time). She would certainly have noticed a person of colour having any connection to the school.

I have ate plenty of his "Dawgs". Kings College is a small school that has an affiliated with Dalhousie University. She will likely know the Dawgfather because of his popularity with students.

Interesting, never knew that. Not sure why there isn't a larger black community here.

Can see no beauty in man made objects, just as well it we all like different things eh! That's what makes the world a more interesting place.

Yes, OH forced me, kicking and screaming i might add. I like it for the most part, the area (lower lonsdale) is a bit scruffy, but seems to be undergoing a bit of a re-birth. Nice views of downtown, west van, lionsgate and the mountains from my place. 400 sq foot deck is nice too! Only 12 mins to downtown - on the seabass. Usual uninspiring buildings, but the garden, as you would put it, is closer. easier commute for me, being in Burnaby.

For me I could not swap being amongst the trees, views of the mountains, and sound of crashing water for one of buildings and ironwork. Can see no beauty in manmade objects, just as well it we all like different things eh! That is what makes the world a more interesting place.
You've seen no building or city-scape in your time as a pilot and thought that actually looks pretty amazing? I can understand a preference for mountains etc, but there must have been a city you liked flying into.
