CNC Programmer/Chargehand - Nova Scotia
#1
Hello ,
hopefully moving to Nova Scotia soon with the family!
Wondered if there is anyone out there who has good CNC Experience who has gone to work in Nova Scotia as a Programmer or a chargehand??
Have looked at the Labour Market Info website and found the Average wages.
Does anyone have any first hand experience of what sort of money a top notch CNC worker could be on there??
You can PM me if its secret!
Cheers, Grant

Grant, it would really help you if you mentioned what a "CNC" operator is?

Assuming you mean a CNC machinist or similar? No idea directly but I do deal with a machining company in NS. At a rough guess I'd say anywhere from $15-25 an hour depending on the organisation & the individuals skills and experience.

Roanin,
CNC Programmer is Computer Numerical Control Programmer, responsible for programming Lathes, Milling Machines etc for the Manufacturing Sector.
Metal Machinists then use these programs to produce different components.

Thanks Grant, I had an idea that's what it was, but better to ask even a stupid question, than blether and make a fool of ones self. I have an English friend here who is a machinist and has been here for about 30 years. He works at Western Machine and Welding Inc. You could try their website and simply ask. I am sure they would be very helpful. : www.westernmachine.ca ( by the way, I am located in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan).
