Re: Citizenship time line

Thankyou!! I was pretty nervous, but like you said i think its just the whole process of the test and leading up to it etc. that is worse.

Maybe the oath just depends on the office? Not sure. I got an RQ last July, applied in april 2013, so for me to get the oath in two-five months I'm pretty happy! Although waiting a week would be nice!

How long did your oath ceremony take? Do you take more documents with you that day? I heard they take your PR card?

Yeh they swop the citizenship certificate for the PR card and say "go get a passport"

I took all my docs but they only looked at passport and PR.

Ceremony is about 2 hours. Formal dress too, no jeans or shorts.

My timeline (albeit from memory):

Applied in August 2012.
Got the Discover Canada book around February 2013.
Submitted Residency Questionaire around September 2013.
Given notice of exam February 2014.
Sitting the test tomorrow.

Meanwhile my wife's timeline:
Applied for citizenship afew months after me.
No Residency Questionaire.
Notice of exam in January 2014.
Had to sit the exam the very next day!
Taking the oath six weeks after that.

Finally, after applying in September 2010 and passing our tests last August our ceremony is tomorrow. Bittersweet now as we've decided to go back to the UK, but we may decide to return someday and it gives our daughter more options in the future.
