Hi there,

I have a question, somehow related to the OP situation... I went through all our passports, and sure enough, we are missing one- I don't have the one I landed with. We landed 9 years ago, and I have the passport I got 2 years later... So, given that I have my passports for the last 7 years (all lived in Canada), that show I've been here enough time for citizenship, will I still be required to produce the one from 9 years ago...? When my citizenship application gets processed that is...

We have a date for the swearing. Next thursday, phew. So our alternative papers worked just fine to show them we were here all along.
Anyone been to the oath swearing at Scarborough?.

I swore the oath in Scarborough last month. Only one guest per new citizen as the room is small and we were a group of 96. So my husband and kids stayed outside in the waiting room and watched me on TV.
Whole thing took about 2 hours including photographs with the judge afterwards.
Big emphasis on the responsibilities of becoming a citizen and how coveted this is.
Also the oath had to be sworn in French and English with staff patrolling to ensure the oath spoken by all. We were told that if we remained silent no citizenship would be granted! The French was spoken at full speed so I think there was quite a bit of "rhubarb rhubarb" at that point.
A lovely happy occasion and feels great to be Canadian at long last!

Hey, thanks for posting. Shame about the guest numbers especially when they have notices up saying they encourage you to bring friends and family. Will see if the friends we asked can come anyway.

You may have better luck. We had our ceremony on family day so everyone pitched up!
