Ok, Ive had a look on the CIC and found this:
Clicky It suggests that "semi skilled" workers need to sit an english test as part of the application process but I assume that "skilled" do not (it doesnt say): Effective July 1, 2012, most Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) applicants to semi- or low-skilled professions will need language testing. This test will show whether your language proficiency meets a minimum standard in each of these four categories: listening, speaking, reading and writing. This does not apply if you are a temporary foreign worker in a NOC C & D occupation, and who: entered Canada on or before July 1, 2012, and has been nominated in a PNP employer-driven stream by July 1, 2013. |

Not necessarily - no requirement for English testing for spousal sponsorship for instance. Not all visa routes require it. |

Further to my original message, is anyone aware exactly what they mean by
a) for the language evidence that one course does not count - would proof i passed maths, science etc at the same school count? b) says photocopies of school records for myself or dependent children are missing or illegible - I completed section G. I showed the names of both my children and the school of one who is 5 and the dates applicable. My other child i showed the name info and age but he is only 2 so i left off the school as it is not applicable. Should i have left the second (non school age child) off the application and/or provided any other info as well? |

What, they require a language test for citizenship as well now?! That seems unreasonable, since surely if you've been able to live and work in Canada for 3 years the language thing is pretty irrelevant? For example you may be able to speak and understand english, but not read/write well, which is enough for some types of work. What about landed immigrants from the 60s/70s who have PR but not citizenship but don't have all the english skills? Wow...

Only if the child was born in Canada. It is technically possible to give birth elsewhere and still meet the residency reqs.

Many thanks I have just put all my docs together and off to get some lovely pics of me and the boy done. I included all my edumication docs that I have done much of in the English. :@) noted that I did pass English & English Lit so if my calculations are correct that is erm 1+1=2 yup two English things I done. Lets see what happens next, off to polish my hair now for pics. |

Both my kids are born in Canada! my wife is Canadian too!! Ive also been in Canada since 2004 as a PR since early 2006!! I am still not totally sure but will attached other school certs from other classes and pass docs from college in England (they will probably return then because too much proof!!!) I think the main issue then is about the children and why they rejected that section.
Does anyone know what should be on the section about children and what should be shown for non-school age children? Also should i show any registration for the older child at school? Wonder when the language issue came in to effect as i sent the application in December and it was received in Dec as i had proof it was with them as was a courier postage used??? |

The point NOvo was trying to make is that your children ARE AlREADY citizens if they were born in Canada
You don't need to apply for citizenship for them Surely they have a Canadian birth certificate ! |

I think you may need to re apply, just for yourself as your kids are Canadian by birth, and maybe you have confused the CIC into thinking you have some other kids who are not Canadian. Just a possibility ehh!
And maybe send anything that shows you passed English or took an exam in anything English related. Engineering degree or electrical red seal ect. |
