Hye,
How much is the maximum child benifit I could get when one is not working and the other is earning pretty low. The web says about 226 CAD monthly and GST/HST of 141.50 quarterly. Have I got my figures right?

As a new immigrant I believe that you are not entitled to benefits. Therefore I highly doubt you'll get anything.

If you resided in Canada throughout 2003, enter the amount from line 236 of your tax return.
If you were a newcomer to Canada or a returning resident in 2003, enter the amount from line 236 of your tax return and the income you earned outside Canada.
If you were a newcomer to Canada or a returning resident in 2004 or 2005, enter the income you earned outside Canada in 2003.
Income earned outside Canada-the same as determining net income in Canada; gross income from all sources less deductions.

I stand corrected
