I just put my lap top inside my rucksack then when we went through security they just ask you to take it out to put on a tray to go through the xray then just put it back in the rucksack so it was no problem at either end

This one bag thing was enforced strictly at Gatwick in Feb also when Phil flew out - infact they wouldnt even let him take him newspaper in a W H Smith bag as well as a laptop case

A woman I saw at Heathrow two weeks ago got as far as the metal detectors with a rucksack and second bag. The security staff sent her back.

.We were okay because there was 4 of us and therefore we could take on 4 pieces of hand luggage so put some of our things in the boys backpacks. I knew the kids were going to be useful sometime ;-)

I thought they were allowing laptops through in addition to 1 piece of hand luggage these days. It's hard to keep up with the new rules from one week to the next

At Heathrow last week I has my one carry on rucksack but, with a little time to kill before I went through customs, I went into a shop and bought a plastic policeman's helmet which they put in a plastic bag . . . . . you can guess the rest.

You have to hate it when those security guys dabble with your helmet.

Just to add if I burnt an image of my video dvds and then when i get to canada burn it back onto a dvd will it not play on dvd players out there. Will save time looking for region free and all that business. Anyone tried doing that.

Why don't you watch the movies now? Then you'll have the best scenes in your head safe from the customs people, and you won't have to bother transporting them.

Yeah but What if I want to watch them in future? That whole point of people keeping dvds.

Get a region-free dvd player. Or convert your dvd player to region-free. 5 minutes with google should clear this up for you.
