I turned on the tv for the 1st time in ages on Friday to watch the opening ceremony in Beijing. Should have found a live stream instead.
I miss the BBC so much for these kind of things.

During the last summer Olympics I was in the UK. I thought it would be so nice to watch coverage that wasn't completely biased, as is the case with watching US stations, where you would think only the US is competing in any given sport. How wrong I was - I found it as bad, if not worse! At least the CBC has wider coverage with regard to other countries competitors and "inside stories".

I have to say I was pretty miffed to have had television installed specifically for the Olympics and then to find that an extra subscription was required in order to see the dancing horses.

Oh and I do wish the CBC would stop advertising their politically correct soap opera with the slogan "The World's Most Famous Muslims". What about Osama bin Laden and Malcolm X, eh?

I am not bothered if a station is patriotic, that is what I expect for an event like the Olympics.
The whole opening ceremony coverage was ruined by adverts, returning from the adverts live and then going back to what was missed over the adverts. Also the phone calls from the Canadian team and you missed certain countries going through while the screen was the Canadian team. I missed Serbia and Slovakia going through.
The BBC would have been a lot better and you would have seen every country.
I am sticking to live streams for my Olympics coverage and actually if you can't understand the commentary it is better, or have no commentary!

You can grab the daily BBC UK Olympic Round-up on UKNova
The best bit of the CBC coverage is their ability to link ANY event or athlete back to Canada!! - This person studied in Vancouver, That person went skiing in whistler once... so an so's second-cousin (twice removed)' daughter's boyfriend once dated a girl who's mother once read an article about Calgary??!! amazing! - Who finds these things out!

Do the Canadians and Americans not have that wonderful technology of the BBC where you press the red button on your remote and you can watch from a selection of about 6 different Olympic events?
Thought not...pah!
