You would be foolish to work for someone any longer than you need before going alone. Here in NB they are like Gold Dust mate.
I can tell you now, you will with in a couple of years have the life style here as a reputable carpenter that you would never have had in the UK.
Arm yourself with a pocket full of business cards from day one, have a ball
PS. If you need to get licences for your carpentry business, you will still find work whilst applications are in.
Do not let this hold you up.

Are things really that good in New Brunswick? My husband is a self employed carpenter here in Scotland and has an extremely good reputation. We were planning on moving to Ontario (provided we are accepted of course and depending on how long it takes) but would obviously consider going elsewhere if work was that good. Seems like a dream come true.

Forget Ontario, it`s like UK city suburbs creeping outward, with all the probs`it brings!
We will tell you about our NB PNP Business visa, it is a very uncomplicated simple route.
