carpenters in gta
 

i hope to arrive in the gta next year some time, i know plumbers and electricians have to sit a kind of trade test,does anyone know if this applies to carpenters as well , also what is the best way of finding work once i arrive in gta

No trade test required for chippies but red seal may be beneficial also fall arrest certificate may be required. For finding work it's best to go on site and talk to people . In the G.T.A there is an amazing amount of construction going on and I cannot imagine you would have any problems finding work

I cannot speak for the GTA, but for the NB area-
You would be foolish to work for someone any longer than you need before going alone. Here in NB they are like Gold Dust mate.
I can tell you now, you will with in a couple of years have the life style here as a reputable carpenter that you would never have had in the UK.
Arm yourself with a pocket full of business cards from day one, have a ball :beer:
PS. If you need to get licences for your carpentry business, you will still find work whilst applications are in.

Are things really that good in New Brunswick? My husband is a self employed carpenter here in Scotland and has an extremely good reputation. We were planning on moving to Ontario (provided we are accepted of course and depending on how long it takes) but would obviously consider going elsewhere if work was that good. Seems like a dream come true. :)
