Default Career Advice

Hi!

I am a UK citizen just looking for some advice. I am currently looking into Express Entry in Canada and do have enough points without further training but also want to make sure that if I pursue this avenue I enter Canada with the best chance possible of securing a job.

In the past in the UK I have worked as a support worker at an inpatient mental health hospital, this involved working in a Psychological Intensive Care Unit, a mixed inpatient assessment ward, male and female rehabilitation wards and also occasionally on a dementia ward, I was in this role for 3 years before leaving to complete a working holiday visa in Canada and then travel Europe and Australia.

I have a 2:1 (Hons) bachelor’s degree in applied psychology and would like to continue to get back to working in mental health and progress further with my training.

I was just wondering if anyone in a similar situation can offer any advice on the type of roles I could apply for within the Canadian health service if I were to come to Canada with my current experience or would I be better heading back to UK and completing post graduate training in low intensity therapies and then moving?

Also, if I were to gain permanent residence are there any opportunities available (e.g. scholarships, sponsorship etc.) that would help me to progress further towards my end goal of being a qualified chartered psychologist?

Thanks in advance 😊

Becky
