All kidding aside, I taught my late teen son how to drive manual in a few sessions going around empty business parks and then on to the main roads here in Ottawa. Few, if any of his friends can drive one or have ever been in one.

I am more optimistic than I was a couple of years ago that I can teach little Miss P to drive a manual, she was firmly resistant, but is warming to the idea of it being cool. But if she doesn't, she's going to be SOL when she wants to borrow a vehicle, as our only automatic is a X5 with a V8 turbo, and I am not letting a novice driver loose in a vehicle with 448hp!
