What, if any, Canadian papers are read by the peeps in this forum? I know UK papers are available over there but what title would come recommended for someone who reads the Guardian or the Indy over here? I guess for the GTA area (unless the Canadians have national newspapers too.)

Toronto Star seems ok from what I've read on the Net. You will be disappointed with the papers here - best bet is the Globe and Mail (and that is not the same quality of analysis/comment

And there is always the current news magazine MacLeans - this isn't a recommendation but it does provide much heated comment in my household!

.lol. thanks

I read the Star a lot online but they only seem to let you view the articles from up to 7 days back, which is a bit naff. I guess I'll have to make do with day old brit rags for the editorial content.

Why not read same day brit rags on line? That's what I do.

www.guardian.co.uk

Toronto Star for sports and local (GTA + Ontario) politics.
Globe and Mail for national and international politics.
Toronto Sun for T*ts (page 3)
National Post for toilet paper.

1) the local rag for 'man bites dog' humor plus all online local media

2) all other external input/stimulii delivered online through various babbling resources, keeps my mind-bubble alive and active, throbbing like a pulsing wired caffeine-dependent 'Brain of Morbius'-like organic consciousness

The Globe & Mail is considered Canada's national paper. The National Post also claims to be national, but is not as widely read. You could also check the CBC site for news on national and provincial levels. Local papers tend not to be much use except for movie listings and classifieds. As for the Toronto Star, I wouldn’t use it to housetrain the dog, let alone actually read it.

'most everyone I know in Toronto reads the Guardian. Then again, most of the people I know in Toronto I know from www.guardian.co.uk/talk. Lots of convenience stores stock the New York Times, which is a decent enough paper. If I want more local than that I looked at the Beach Metro News or the Downhomer.

there is this excellent online paper - but it is BC centric (which makes a change from the "national" papers that say "and over in the West..." but that is for another soapbox... )
