I like Cameron's from Oakville though, since we have Wellington from the cask 100 yards away, I rarely bother with it now. I think the suggestion of Flying Monkeys is someone having a laugh, that's from the brewery in Barrie, formerly known as Robert Simpson iirc, dreadful stuff, apparently modeled on Cinquante.

gives it pretty good reviews. It is a beer best had on draught. If I could stumble home from the Woolie I probably wouldn't be getting too adventurous with other beers.

Agreed. I once tried a "Dunkelweisse" (I know that's an oxymoron, but I believe that's the proper term for a German style dark wheat beer) from Beau's. It was excellent.

Sadly, however, I don't seem to be able to get it in the LCBO stores in my neck of the woods.

Ahh forgot about Wellington - that's good stuff!

Another drink I used to really miss was cider - but there seems to have been a boom in cider production in Canada (well southern Ontario at least) in the last few years. There's even apparently a cider festival in Winona later this month!

Having had a tough day doing external research, I can vouch that Flying Monkey produce proper cask ale...

I thought they'd just changed the labels from when they were Robert Simpson. That means I'll have to try it again.

Atlantic Xpat - do share where in Montreal that place was. We are blessed with a stack of good bars and amber ales, but i am missing a pint of something flat, fragrant and cool. Come to think of it a packet of crisps, a Sunday supplement and a half-cut Grandpa yelling at his equally befuddled dog would round out the experience nicely. Merci.

There's all manner of imported cider readily available, Stowford's is the one I usually buy, Wau Poos seems to be the best local one. I'm told the draft one at the Woolly is really good but I haven't tried it and can't name it.
