By the way, for anyone travelling with Infants, it looks like taxes are charged from the UK, but not from Canada, making it cheaper to book here.
Just checked with the code (didnt use it previosuly) Canadian Affair still $175more expensive than direct with Transat.

If you go onto the UK site, there are usually a lot more deals and offers than the .ca (on canadian affair)

But you can't book online leaving the Canada first (on the UK site) so call up one of the offices in the UK and do it that way, not paid more than £300 return yet and neither has my GF in canada.

Also you can get 2% back using quidco! takes a couple of months for the money to come through but always has for me (not much but adds up)

By the way, we've just had to cancel our Air Transat flights to Canada for May. The flight was non-refundable and non-transferable (lesson learnt there then!) BUT, you are eligible to claim the Air Passenger Duty (APD) back (Google it). The APD or tax is a monetary sum that the air line have to pay to the Government. If you cancel they don't have to send the money to the Government but they keep it to themselves and then re-sell the seats! They often object and may require some very strong emails or letters but it's with it in the end. A family member of mine needed to cancel a flight to Canada last year, claimed and got £250 back in the end!

I put my claim in today so I'll let you know how it goes and what the result is!

Also, after our experience here: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=686205 we phoned the London Canadian Affair number to see what the price difference would be for our travel in July if we went through them again. I was surprised to have them quote that it was actually about $200 more expensive in total, for a family of 4 (so not a huge difference but I was surprised that it was more expensive than booking within Canada.)

We said how odd that was, based on our previous experience of saving $1000, and that in that case we'd book it over here instead... Suddenly the woman was: "Oh, you're a return customer?? In that case you are eligible for a 15% discount!" which worked out to be about $600, so a $400 saving
