Hi all,

I have been approached by a few people who are looking for an administration assistant to work from home for them. I am here in Alberta on an open work permit after being accepted on the IEC program.

Am i allowed to work as the above on a self employed basis on this visa? I don't want to do it without checking and risk being thrown out of Canada.

Alberta is currently still recovering on the job front and it seems that being self employed is my only option right now to earn some wages.

On IEC you can work at whatever you like, so long as you follow any regulatory requirements.

Thank you for your reply. So i dont need any special SIN number and i just file my taxes in April as i would if i was employed?

You need a SIN and report nett income by June 15 for the previous calendar year.
