Our 3 yr old Border Collie will be coming with us next year to Edmonton. We got him from a local rescue kennel two years ago. A friend of ours had rescued a dog from the same kennel, and that dog now lives with them happily in Vermont! I bet the people who gave those dogs up to be rehomed never imagined where they may end up!

ah the quarantine bit at Gatwick plus the additioanl flight must rack it up a bit - but we do it any way becasue we love them! My inital quote was £2700, I didnt tell OH - was just going to pay it anyway!!

You are going to Vancouver? think you have better choice on flights, there are not many carriers from uk or spain into Calgary so we have to take what we can get. He will fly Thomson from here then Air Transat. We are flying Air Canada but not sure they actually carry pets? if i could get it cheaper i would, as that is more than my flight, crazy isnt it?

Our 2 dogs (border terrier & dobermann) are both rescue & our 3 cats - my parents have a rescue lab.

I'm particularly passionate about rescue & unwanted pets having worked at Battersea Dogs home in the 80's - some of the sights I saw while working there were very sad - it's terrible how some people treat their pets
Came home with a fabulous dalmatian x collie who we had for 14 happy years.

Yes - we tried to find at least one rescue per breed to populate that breed rescue pages but we hope that the list will grow and grow as more people register their rescues and also join as helpers.

Its really great to hear from so many of you that already have rescue dogs..Well done you all

Mine are both rescue too.
Scooby is a dobie mixed with poss a ridge. maybe a vizla. He was found roaming the streets at 6months old - some one had docked his tail -so dont know if they tried to sell him as a red dobie or ridgeless ridge?? We went to Last Chance in Edenbrige - Kent - to get a small cross breed pup - but I fell for scoobs!!


Brady was a mishap! My daugter managed to get herself on the kids version of the Underdog show on CBBC last year - stupidly I thought it was with our resuce dog. Oh no - all the kids got paired with a dog from the Dogs Trust at Harfield - west london and we spent 5 days a week training and filming -so after 8 weeks what can you say??? yup we ended up with Bradu - although I dont think Julian Clary (the host) helped by saying live on film, oh I am sure yr mum can cope with another one evie!!!!! Yeah Thanks mate!

I know - stitched up like a right Kipper - I did get my own back later by calling him a slut - not on air - at the wrap party - i had a copy of his auto biog and asked him to sign it, he asked whether Evie had read it - I said good god no - sh is only 12 (at the time) and you were a right slut!! lucckily he laughed - must say he looked a lot better without all the slap!
