Calgary weather

OK so I'm not quite Calgary being 1.5 hours up the road but the first year we were here (2005) it rained all of June, so much so the river burst it's bank in Red Deer - the most rain since whenever blah blah - so I can say from experience, it does tend to rain a lot in June, some years are worse than others, this year seems fairly YUK and too English for my liking

Then on the bright side, it can get snow in August!

according to the stats there are 5 mild to warm months and they all get quite a bit of rain! but June is the worst. I should count myself lucky for still being in sunny england then

Thing with Calgary is if you don't like the weather then wait 10 minutes! Calgary is also susceptible to the Föhn effect, known locally as a Chinook.

This is our third summer and the kids outdoor evening sports have been disrupted way more than in the previous two summers. A few evenings in May were a problem in those months but this is the first June where I recall practices and games being cancelled. May is a bit dodgy

I've missed the "famous" Alberta blue skies this year. We have had so many overcast days. And fog earlier in the year quite often - we rarely get fog. Just pretty dull all round really.
Last weekend was fab and we had a couple of lovely days in May - but the rain this week is beginning to p*** me off (and I don't usually begrudge it at all) - but my garden is one large squelchy puddle and the plants I put in a few weeks ago are currently swimming and will no doubt rot now!
Coooeeey - summer! Where are you??

Glad that I saw the best of weather while I was there between 3rd and 9th of June. It only rained a bit on the 3rd when I got there and some on the 9th when I was departing. But in between it was warm, sunny and dry, most of the time

Ok I'm flying out on 29 June for two weeks - should I buy my rain mac and bring my jumpers? I was expecting lovely sunny weather and thought once the winter was over that was the opening for hot summers, obviously I'm wrong
The reason we sidelined Vancouver was because it rains so much but at least there its 6 months rain 6 months sun
