Calgary weather

I've been watching the weather forecast (on google) since March, and it seems like it has mostly been raining in Calgary all of that time! Is this correct? and is it normal for this time of year? or are the weather people telling terrible lies?

I'm surprised it's not snowing there.

English weather isn't as bad as the inhabitants like to think ;)

It has been raining for the best part of a week or two! It has been very unusual. This is my fourth June and I don`t recall the previous ones being anything like this. Having said that, it was 25 degrees plus for both days at the weekend.

June tends to be the rainy month. My recollection is that Calgary is as green as it gets at the end of June. Thereafter, everything slowly turns brown.

I don`t recall the sustained rain that we have had the last two weeks in years gone by.

Re: Calgary weather

June 2007 was wet, June 2008 was wet, June 2009 not wet, June 2010 wet. Don't forget the flooding that happened in the south in June 2005, my friends had their basement flooded in McKenzie Lake.

June is nearly always wet, average rainfall is more that 50mm. It always seems bad because we are thinking it should be summer already.

Problem is we had such a dry winter, before June I can't remember the last time it rained properly here, I would probably need to go back to Late August/September.

On the bright side, my grass is now nice and green and I haven't had to water my plants in days!

The last month has been quite wet and the locals have been moaning about it. It's not been raining since March though! Last weekend was dry and warm 25C I think which is hot enough for me. 8C this morning with light rain. Calgary is looking quite green now and the rain should have cleared up by the weekend.

Then on the bright side, it can get snow in August!

This might help a bit http://www.climate.weatheroffice.gc....s/index_e.html

Even Edmonton can't lay claim to that dubious distinction. They've never had any recordable snow in July. ;)

Here in south eastern BC there's been about 2 days in the last 2 weeks or more where we've had no rain. We've had consistent rain here for well over 24 hours now & it shows no sign of easing off as I look out the window. :frown:

On the plus side, it feels like an English summer, the usually parched Canadian grass is looking very green & I don't have to get the mower or do any watering at present.
