Can anyone shed some light on this dilema!
I am moving home in a month and i have bell express view at present. I have been checking out the websites to try and compare Rogers to Bell and of course they slate each other and always say they offer the best deal!
The new home has cable set up for every room whereas bell would have to set up and install the dish. Not sure where to go with this one.
who has what and what do you think of the service?
who really does offer the best service and what about british channels?
i would appreciate any imput
much confused

Your home might be fitted for cable tv in every room but that doesn't mean you'll have access to cable tv in every room - they will charge you extra for more than the basic number of activated outlets (I think it's 4 rooms allowed before they charge extra).
Hope this is helpful!

I bundled up with bell but now i am thinking of shifting all three together. How is the package pricing with rogers! if you don't mind me asking?
You never know if to stick with what you know or try out a new company. But once you take the plunge there is no turning back for a while. thats why i was asking the question here.
They told me via phone that they charge for additional digital terminals but not the regular. I could have one main digital and the rest regular for no extra cost. We only need an addition three outlets.
how do you find the programming?
Bell looks wonderful with it's ever lasting long list but actually it is not all that great. Just wondered how rogers were in comparison.
thanks again

She checked the bill this month and found she'd been charged $20 over the monthly $25 for internet access as she had up/downloaded over her limit. She has a monthly limit of 1Gb at 128kB, and somehow had bust the agreed monthly limit of 1Gb. We checked online my Rogers setup - for $34 monthly I get 60Gb - yes, sixty - up/download limit per month, they recently upgraded my speed to 1Mb for the price I was paying before for 384kB, and I pay $34 (+taxes, of course). And now the S-D is going to switch back.
A colleague lives across the border in Quebec, and is on Bell/Sympatico for internet access. His internet has been out all week - and when he rings them to fix it he gets put in a loop of - diconnect all 'phones, disconnect the modem, power cycle the modem and PC and try again. Of course they tell him to disconnect the 'phone he's using to talk to them - so when it doesn't fix the problem - he ends up in a loop with a different serviceagent, telling him the same thing. He has told them he is goingto dump them if it's not fixed by today - we're on-call so need the internet to log in to customers - etc.
So pound-for-pound, or sorry, dollar, I'd choose Rogers over Bell/Sympatico.

We had Rogers before when we were in an apartment as that was the only choice there, but we always had our internet from Bell since my husband had the account before I even moved here and we didn't want to change the email addresses. When we got a house, we checked into pricing for satellite and found we could lower our cable bill by $40 a month by switching from Rogers to Express Vu, keeping almost exactly the same channel line-up. We bought the receivers (2) and dish and the installation was free (this includes running any cables you need too) and have easily paid for them now with the savings after just over a year on the service. You don't have to buy though, you can just pay a rental fee on your bill if you prefer and then there is no out of pocket expense to get it started. We bundled with our phone service, and internet to get $5 off each per month plus we got the deal of 1000 minutes of long distance for $5/month (Canada and US) so no more long distance charges now. We even switched our mobile phones over to Bell since they had a special going on that for a nice phone free and again a discount for the bundle.
I have been very happy with Express Vu and find the picture quality is better than I had with Rogers digital cable. Rogers also had a habit of going out frequently in this neighborhood which pushed us to look at satellite more quickly than we might have otherwise. We wondered why there were so many dishes on this street and now we know why. :-)
As for British content, we get BBC Canada, BBC Kids, BBC News. If you want lots of soccer, get Fox Sports World since that is mostly what they show.l

I don't think you can take your bundle with you. Bell has stopped selling bundles now because they said they were losing too much money.
They have also stopped the $5/1000 minutes and i have heard that they are planning to take that away from people very shortly.
i would advise you to split your services up. I have internet with sympatico for $34/month- regular, unlimited bandwith and cable with cogeco. All the bundle deals both companies offer are just BS.....in fact, when the bundles came out, customers were actually more for their bundles(with bell that is). There are so many loop holes. Bell is the ultimate devious and unethical corporation, in my opinion.
and as for your telephone bill......keep your eyes peeled....i have heard the "network charge" is going up to $4.95. Also, beware of wire protection and phone protection...BS. and if you don't make any long distance calls, remove the network charge completely.

Number one complaint they get there is about how high the fee was to diagnose and fix and inside wiring problem from customers who refuse to take the wire care service. One idiot had had them out 4 times (paying the high fee each time) and still wouldn't take it when he had another problem, but still wanted to yell about it.

The trick with wire protection is to not get it until you need it. If you get a problem that is in your inside wiring and know it is by checking it out yourself, call in and take the wire protection when offered. The cost is not much but you won't have to pay the $90 minimum fee for them to come and look at your inside wiring. You have to keep the service for like 6 months and then you can cancel it with no penalty. Certainly cheaper than paying the Bell service fee. Phone protection is good if you have some phones that are going bad and need replaced. Just get the service, get your phones replaced, and cancel after 6 months.

We're happy with Rogers (only been a few months though!). It's approx £120 per month for the 3 services. We have 4 television points but one is the digital box and the rest are regular cable. We were told we'd have to pay extra for more points, but 4 is more than enough for us. We have unlimited internet access on broadband and the speed is pretty good. The phone system is fine, but we have found out recently that it costs extra for home security systems because they have to "bypass" the cable telephone line with some sort of receiver.
