Dual active was where I was screwing up, found one which I will look into more, Heres a link and do a search as you can get them cheaper than staples lol

This is the one Crosslands mentioned but I think one SIM is only 2G (not sure how much that matters in practice). I think this one is Dual Active.
What is the one you bought that you are taking back?

Have to manually switch between SIMs and obviously only runs one at a time.
The one in the link above says LTE in the specs, will find out more about it before i rush out and buy another phone lol
Specs:
ZenFone 2 is powered by a 64 bit Super Quad Core Intel Atom processor and is the worlds first smartphone with up to 4GB of dual channel DDR3 RAM. Featuring LTE Category 4 plus for download speeds up to 150Mbuts and a 60ms touch response time, ZenFone 2 gives you power beyond your imagination. Finally, bigger and better does not always come with high price tags.
Hmm just rolled back and read what Crossland said, wouldnt be an issue for me so long as Telus still have 2g running, company email is on Gmail servers so thats not an issue. Need to find out if Telus still have 2g as my personal is Telus also.

The manual switch sounds a pain. I don't need to do that with my Moto G. But the Moto G is dual standby which is fine for me.
Sounds like the Asus Crossland has might be good for you if 2G isn't a problem for SIM 2 (you can always swap them round at different times). It might be good for me too!

I saw a new Acer model Z410 dual sim phone at Costco and it was dead cheap @ $150 for the specs it had.

Thank you. It looks good, and definitely good value but I think I'd like a bigger screen.

Just wanted to say, in the tech circle over on Redflagdeals, expansys is frequently mentioned as being good/reliable for stuff. You can grab a Galaxy S6 dual SIM for 750 CAD Samsung Galaxy S6 Dual-SIM SM-G9200 (Unlocked LTE, 32GB, Black Sapphire) #AP_SM-G9200_BLK - EXPANSYS Canada It is a dual ACTIVE sim phone. Don't know how much you want to spend or if you want the latest kit however.

Thanks that's really good info about Expansys.
I don't need dual Active
But I do want something OK but not high end.
So my Moto G is lovely. For the money it's great.
The third gen one looks good but I can't get a dual sim version at the moment (can't find anywhere in Canada that stocks it)
And it only has a 5 inch screen (I'm looking for 5.5).

Re: Buying an unlocked cell phone in Canada (dual sim)
That surprises me as I thought cell phone companies didn't sell dual SIMs (as they are unlocked) but maybe one sim slot is unlocked and the other isn't.
Keep us posted. I'm learning a lot on this thread.

Wont be getting one from them as they'll want a contract or top dollar to buy the phone outright from them.
