It certainly could to be senseless (but that depends on your point of view) if the money they are going to receive over there is poor in relation to the cost of living there. Anyway, I suppose its also relative to how much they are receiving in the UK and what they are used to living on in the UK. Any idea how much UK bus driver earns?

Those that want the jobs filled there, don`t care really care if these people struggle or not they just want the jobs filled.

This is immigration for you, and if you want it bad enough you`ll accept the job regardless of the working pay, as its a great way to integrate yourself into Canada.

If somebody offered me a job as a driver to get into USA or Canada...... I`d have their hand off :D ............Wouldn`t overly bother me if the wages were a load of rubbish at first, as once you were settled there you could gradually improve your position.

I know jules its tempting iam have drove cranes for years iam sure i could get the hang of a bus.

I am told that in Montreal and environs wages for drivers who have been doing it for years is about 60K per annum. Not bad to drive a bus around. Plus they have a union.

Of course the job can be nasty, what with some unruly passengers, our notorious potholes (reminiscent of a third world country) and some awful weather at times in winter.

Methinks they deserve every penny they earn.

Ever thought about long haul truck driving? Seems to be a real demand for this in Canada and probably pays well. I have even seen quite a few adverts for driving schools in Canada advertising lessons etc. Not sure if this helps though they may need people with years of experience.

Once saw a documentary though about long haul truck drivers in the North west territories and what a job!!! They were cracking up with the hours of the job and even had their lorries falling through the ice:eek: But I imagine that your average truck driving job is not going to be like this.

Your right 60K ain`t bad for driving a bus around. Does Montreal actually have that many potholes? I know it gets to -30 in winter!!! Enough to freeze the balls of a ......................... Well anyway there might be women and minors reading this so I will let you use your imagination:D

They have that Ice Road Trucker programme over here,saw them driving in a place i think it was called Yellowknife or something like that. Love all that snow me,i know you get sick of it but i think its great.

Thats it Yellowknife, There is also a place called GREAT SLAVE LAKE great name but it sounds like the type of place, once you get there your never coming back again:(

Ha very true those truckers though Jules are so laid back especially that young fella. They deserve their money those drivers all right.

You usually post on the NZ forum..... have you looked into possibility of jobs as a crane operator in Canada? Check this out for starters?

Noticed some of these drivers as well were Americans, especially the musician that was fined for speeding and then kicked out of his job.
