What would you say is an average car insurance premium ? I know that's a bit like 'how long is the proverbial piece of string? '.

So, for example - insurance for an average, couple-of-years-old, saloon ? I've heard quotes from about $750 up to $2000 a year - that's a big difference - I would pay about £280-300 in the UK for being a boring, no recent crashes, kind of person.

Someone has mentioned newer cars are alot more ? Is that 'newer' or 'brand new' ? (Like the UK presumably, and we have never been able to afford a brand new car here ! )

We are looking at Alberta - Calgary ish.

Got loads of other questions - but will try and pick up on other related threads if I can .
We have just returned from Calgary after 14 months there. Our car insurance was generally more expensive out there. My wife had a Honda Civic and paid around $1,300, and I paid around $1,100 on a Mercedes 300E. We were given a "cheap" rate out there as we found an insurance company who would accept our UK no claims - PM me if u want more details.

Regards
