Dear Ams,

Dont worry, they dont send any reciepts and it is not unusual for them to debit the
fee after the assessment. I sent mine of to the ACS on the 18th Dec, as I hadn't
heard anything I contacted them by email ( [email protected] ), they confirmed receipt
of my application and gave me a reference number. My credit card was debited
yesterday so I am now waiting for the letter...Fingers crossed!

Cheers,

Glenn.

As far as I can gather for OZ you only need 1 years experience for the qualification
you have..I thought the 4 year thing was if you had something like an MCSE.

Thats my interpretation of it anyway..so it could be wrong...

If you don't put an MODL code in then your application will be invalid. You need to
list the code that best describes your skills/position, if ACS think a different code
describes your skills/position they'll let you know.

Would anyone know how I can find out about british pensions. I'm thinking of moving back to the U.K. in about 5 years and wonder what sort of pension I would be entitled to. I will have lived outside of the U.K. for approx. 28 years by then. I worked approximately 10 years before leaving.

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Annie, you need to write to the Pensions Directorate who I believe are in Newcastle upon Tyne. I'm sorry but the address escapes me but I think they come under the National Insurance group. If you can't find them in the phone book, can I ask if you have any friends or family here in the UK? If you do, ask them to pop into the local Social Security, Benefits Agency of Jobcentre who will be able to supply the correct address. Failing that see if there are any links from http://www.employmentservice.gov.uk or try ask.co.uk and search for pensions. If all else fails, please fell free to email me and I'll try to find out for you.
Hope this helps.

Smokey:

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes - all my family are still in the U.K. so I'll get them onto it.

Cheers!

Hello Mr. Andrew Miller, Thank you so much. I finally "got" your reply to my post at
britishexpats.com. As adviced by you, I am now using misc.immigration.canada to
participate in this NG. I was not able to see your and all those noble guys' answers
to my posts out there at britishexpats and no wonder I was left wondering WHY? I am
thankful to Mr. Miller and all the others who have been responding to queries at the
forum and helping guys out. Kudos to you all. Best Regards, SALI

In a reversal of this posting, I am Canadian living in UK where I have worked since
1974. I intend on returning to Canada in 2004 aged 49. I believe that there is a
reciprical arrangement for UK earned pensions being paid in Canada. Can anyone point
me to the relevant website which addresses this issue.

TIA

A Naismith

Hi Canuck, you probably need the Pensions Overseas Directorate in Newcastle. The
address escapes me but you'll be able to get it from any Jobcentre or Benefits Agency
Office (don't let then fob you off, they really do have it!). There may be a link
from www.employmentservice.gov.uk Hope this helps, Pat.

You can find Social security agreements between the United Kingdom (UK) and other countries at:

Hope this helps.
