Which province are you going to? In some areas you can just exchange your licence and in others you have to do a test.

In Ontario you can exchange your UK licence without having to take a test.

In Manitoba we simply (ish) visited the Autopak centre and exchanged our license. But they didn't like the single sheet paper license, they told us that two piece photo licenses had been issued since 1990 whatever...... And why had we not got one! They couldn't understand the concept of a drivers license lasting 53 years.
Plus they only exchanged the car and motorcycle categories.

Something they had to do with mine was to send it to an 'approving body' somewhere but issued me a temp license in the meantime!!!
How are you finding Manitoba now? Are you still looking at moving to ON?

I guess it depends on which office you use, who you get and what kind of day they've had !

Also make sure that the licence is still valid ! and i dont mean your driving entitlement which expires around about the time your 70, i mean the expiry date on the front ( category 4b on the front of the plastic bit). I know people who have been fined for not realising that there was a expiry date on the front !

If your licence is issued by Swansea, you're OK for Ontario. If it's a UK Northern Ireland licence, you're screwed! I Know!

I'm pretty sure you need to take a picture every 5 years here to.
But yes just in case in Manitoba we have to 'buy' our license every year.
