Default British bus

I wish to buy a British bus...........ideally a routemaster, but any half cab open back circa 1940's (sound like a complete anorak/nurd eh?) any suggested websites or contacts? (free transport for a decade to the winner!)

There are Routemasters knocking round in Montreal on tourist services. Not sure how long they plan on using them for or what they're going to do with them afterwards.

Try www.routemaster.org.uk.

There's also a 1961 Routemaster open-top for sale on Kijiji in Ottawa for $49,000. http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehic...AdIdZ112597804

Niiice, but wow, the prices are hiked in Canada.......I have been offered a fully reno'd routemaster in the UK for £10,000. I was hoping to save shipping costs by trying to find one in canada.

I imagine that any Routemaster in Canada would have had to have been shipped here in the first place, hence the prices would reflect that, to say nothing of the scarcity affecting prices.

Out of curiousity, what would it cost to ship a Routemaster from the UK to Canada?

Rough estimate? Somewhere between $5-8k depending upon where in Canada you were going.

Then you'd need to get the lights changed for driving on the right side of the road, etc.

? Certainly don't need that for cars?
However I believe there are some restrictions on importing busses,
I’ll try to find the link

link found
http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/safev...than/index.htm

I believe the bus has to be manufactured before January 1, 1971.

Maybe I should qualify that, cars 15years or older can be imported without modification
The regulations exist in CVSS180 and CVSS180.1 for new cars and those imported (from the US) that are younger than 15 years

Even a vehicle older than 15 years should have the headlights adjusted to driving on the other side of the road.

Whether that adjustment is considered a modification or not.
