My mistake - So you have another group you want to describe as scum living on welfare?

Absolutely. Best not to assume its all about the natives.

Doesn't alter the APPARENT intent behind YOUR post though :frown::thumbdown:

Completely untrue. I have the pleasure of spending 2 days a week in Regina and whilst natives are part of the problem, much of the crime and gang related activity (which is far worse in Regina than anywhere else I've experienced) is not from natives.
So to suggest any APPARENT intent to my post is way off the mark. The link between natives and "scum" was made by someone else.

Not quite the point I was making, your APPARENT intent to was to spark a 'negative' reaction and offend people.

Something which you have successfully done.

There you go with your knee jerk reactions again.

Any - I'm not bandying words with you again, so ... whatever.

My point.. for other readers. Regina is not full of scum who live on welfare. Though different in terms of weather, size and scenary to any other place I lived it is still a fine place with good people.

I enjoy the native community and have spent years working with different First Nations. If you are interested in their culture, then again Regina is a good place to be.

It has it's problems, like any other place. But I've also lived in Brixton and went to school in Moss Side without any hassle, so maybe I learned to see beyond other peoples' opinions of a place.

Saskatoon is definately a prettier city.

My intent was to give the op feedback on Regina based on my experience (not opinion). Yes we could tell him that its cold in winter, hot in summer and its flat, or we could give him something more meaningful.
Or if someone asks for feedback, should we only focus on the feel good stuff? Hopefully he would prefer to know the ugly side of the place before it was too late.

Now...Regina however, is slightly different. Government city so all the scum in the province live there so the welfare cheques dont have so far to travel. Would avoid Regina like the plague.

Once again I highlight the relevant part of your first post, this is opinion at best. Pure unadulterated BS at worst.

I'm confident that if the op comes on a recce, he will agree with mine, and several other assessments of Regina. Mine wasnt the only "slightly" negative one. Maybe these true opinions could save him an air fare.

I have to agree, Regina is not worth the effort it takes to get there. My OH is also from there. Left 15 years or so ago, never been back since. My friend's daughter is at DEPOT and is due to graduate - i suggested going for the grad and for some nostalgia, I'd better not post on here what she said.........

I'm trying to be objective and look for some good, other than some older, character properties near the UNI, i'm at a total loss, oh, and did I mention cheap real estate?

I have friends who grew up in Regina, Saskatoon and other areas of SK and actually the Majority opinion is that Regina is the better place to be.

I've always heard the opposite that Saskatoon is the more interesting of the two. I'm having to be careful as my in laws are sitting opposite (from Regina, although now living in Edmonton).

I do after say that my overiding memory of the place was natives wandering around in various states of intoxication holding bottles. I was trained as a copper in Regina and had to log hundreds of hours of patrol drives, so tended to notice. Although I probably did gravitate to the poorer areas of town. Some of the residential areas could have been anywhere and there is a somewhat interesting area around the UNI. Can't think of anything else that left me with much of an impression.

Can't say i've been too impressed with Edmonton either, with what little I've seen of it.

Being serious, I have only been to two NA cities that I would categorically refuse to live in, Cheyenne and Butte.

Whilst Edmonton, Regina, Red Deer, Saskatoon, TO, London, Chicago, Portland, NY, Helena, Great Falls............... would never appear on the Same list as Montreal, Calgary, Denver, SF, Boston, New Orleans.................
they each have some what of an individual 'charm' and could be called 'home'
