I never used pick-up lines. I never stood a chance with the fairer sex anyway.

Really? Sure the person concerned said it was a liaison?

Is this what you refer to, perchance? No liaison there, but probably what you meant...

But I am embarrrassed that I got that wrong. I was convinced it was right! Ik heb het meestal vergeten.
I taught myself a little Dutch many years ago after I met some Dutch people in France. We used to correspond in English, and I thought it would be fun to try to write to them in Dutch. But then I visited the Netherlands and was unable to contact the beautiful Ingrid, who suggested that I might 'naar de pomp lopen'. I gathered that she didn't mean that she was thirsty!

Ahem - I said Brit meetup, not Brit beat up! But carry on guys - it sure beats Eastenders (not that I could bear to watch it these days anyway!). Talking of bears - I had the chance to check out the web cam at www.polarbearcam.com The polar bears are normally in Churchill during Oct/Nov while they wait for the Hudson Bay to freeze, so you get to see them lazing around, babes in tow, ahh, such a lovely sight. It's a good long trek from here - 2 days and nights by train but should be good fun and well worth it!

Again, it really is worth it. I can't remember how we got there whether by car or train. They had a CBC special about Churchill and how during certain times of year they had to put the bears to sleep because they were coming into the town and walking along the street trying to find food. Can you imagine one day looking out your window and seeing a polar bear with cubs strolling down your street.....really amazing. After you go, let us knwo your thoughts about the experience. It's been a very long time for me.

Fun yes but not always fun for the poor shmuck who wants to read the real topic originally stated which has somehow got hidden away, way deep inside some strange conversations perpertrated by strange and weird imaginations that only the writer can truly appreciate the direction and meaning within which they may be going in the cold dark wilderness of the BBC cupboard within which Gordon the Gopher used to reside.. Mmmm, sorry, you've got me at it now

What part of Winnipeg are you living in? I was born in St. Boniface, and lived there for a number of years, before finally moving and living in East Kildonan? before we left Manitoba for Ontario permanently.
Lots of snow in Winnipeg these days?

I think that we ought to make a sepcial efort to keep on topic, though.
St Boniface is the patron saint of brewers, I believe. Are there breweries in the area?
