Wink Brit Meetups!

Just found this and wanted to pass it on (sorry if someone's been there and done that! ) It is called Brit meetup and covers many areas around the world where expats can meetup for an old gossip. I haven't tried it yet but looks free - if anyone has signed up before have you been to any meet ups? (if so, give us all the gossip or else!) URL is http://www.meetup.com/

Thanks guys (and lasses)

I've just been having a closer look and it looks like you have to select a topic e.g films, technology, pets etc. to meet up with expats - it's good for meeting folks with the same interest as yours but it would be nice to just have a general 'want to be with other Brits 'cos I'm homesick' meetup! Not that I am homesick but I know some others are and wanted to help - ah well, maybe it's still a useful link for some of ya.

Oh hang on - if you type in Brit it links to expat Brit meetups so there is probably a way - just ignore me, I'm waffling...

Default meetup

Hi,
thanks crazydaisy for the meetup site, i've just had a quick look at it, and for someone who is going to move to halifax next year i think it will be helpful. There are lots of themed meeting points i would not entertain, but meeting mums, yoga and other exercise classes i would try. For people who are new to country don't have any family or friends i think this is a good site to try. thanks again.

Think this is the same site that i've visited before... however, don't bother with the montreal meetup site... no one really talks there!... is a shame for new folk like us.
Anyway, I reckon britishexpats.com is the best expat site around anyway...

Red face Brit Meetup in Winnipeg v. v. soon!

Calling all Brits in Winnipeg - we're having a meetup on September 20th at the Toad in the Hole pub in Osborne Street. Sign on at http://brit.meetup.com/ and then type in your post code and that should bring up the Winnipeg group (should you happen to be in that area of course!!) Only 4 going so far so help us swell the numbers. Maybe see you there (mine's a Murphy's in case you're wondering )

Hi there - has anyone been to any meetups - got any gossip huh, huh, huh??

We've had two meets so far in Winnipeg and now just plotting a Christmas do. Again, any Winnipeggers out there are welcome to join. The URL for the Brit meetup Winnipeg section is http://brit.meetup.com/45

So far we've been to Toad in the Hole and Osborne Freehouse both located in Osborne village. Will maybe try out some Indian restaurants in the future and may even plan some trips that don't involve drinks/eating such as a trip to a toboggan slide, or a visit to Grand Beach - or one to top all trips, a train journey to Churchill, Northern Manitoba to see the polar bears. Wow!

It is really worth the money and time to take the trip to Churchill to see the polar bears. They are magnificent animals. I took the trip when living in Manitoba as a kid and have never forgotten it.

But you're not much more than a child now.

Not only old, but ugly and fat as well - nice attempt at a "save" on your part though - that english charm is always working isn't it?
