Good luck bringing in a container that says "sod" on its list. Turf, soil... you can see what they'll think. I don't think "odds and sods" is in general usage here.

Why can't you change it to odds and ends? We had plenty of "misc. household" or "misc. kitchen" etc, they don't need to know every single content. I just think putting "sod" on a box is stupid given the turf meaning here...

I still cant get used to huge signs by the road saying "SOD". My favourite sign though was one that said one farmer was a "sodding specialist"

We shipped a box of food - marmite, stock cubes, Branston, teabags, Colmans mustard, chocolate, etc. In fact I made a special trip to Sainsburys to buy these items. The lady at the checkout must have thought I was mad - 10 boxes of stock cubes, 5 jars of Marmite, 5 jars of Branston etc

There was no problem with the shippers - they labelled the box "Food".

Could you say which shipping company your using..

I love the marmite bashing that goes on.

We used The Moving Partnership who are a broker. They subcontracted to a crappy little movers r us firm called C G Luss. Rubbish rubbish rubbish. I am currently writting a letter detailing ALL the problems: breakages, stealing, paintwork damage, racist/sexist jokes, poor hygeinge, spilling drinks on carpets, etc etc. They have already asked me to say how much compensation I want....

The broker advised against the food so I didn't send in the end. I will put some bits in my suitcase not hand baggage. Though marmite in a bag could be good as I could dip my crips and flake in it!

So the moral of my story is to not go for the middle quote but the other ones!

Oh, and I got them to chage the 4 boxes with 'sod' in the title to Personal keepsakes and misc bedroom items.

So you are actually taking marmite with you all the way to Canada and I thought the mayonnaise was bad enough.

I thought food was ok as long as it was tinned or sealed etc and not on the "no no" list of foodstuffs. Ive read a few different posts on here whereby people have packed a "food box" such things asd baked beans etc.
I too g have done the travel foosd shop - baked beans ( heinz) tea bags extra sparyon deoderant ( which according to another thread is hard to get) I have even packed a very large box of Persil ( my daughter has exczema so until I have trial and errored all the powders over there at least I can wash her clothes ) so fingers crossed I guess lol - I know I read something recently where a persons packers packed all her kitchen cupboards including half jars of things lol

I think food is ok as long as its sealed, ie tins, and not meat or dairy products.

You may want to pack more washing powder/liquid as its rubbish here. MOH doesnt get exzema from it but the clothes suffer, the colours wash out.
