Hi all
Went online last week to check out phone, internet, cable tv on shaw. Seemed like $175 per month covered all 3, and not on the cheapest options either.
Does this seem right? Seems like it's gone up a fair bit, but still cheaper than here in Oz!

so true!Foxtel is cable here that gets 100 channels for $120 per month I think, and Telstra just reflects the usual Aussie customer service I know and love (love to leave behind when I move to Canada)

Agreed - I miss Freeview in the UK....!!
$175 seems extortionate.
I'm in Vancouver and I'm with Novus, which sets me back about $80 a month.

We have Basic Cable which also includes the basic high definition channels I think there are eleven or twelve we also added the HD plus package. For internet we have the Extreme package and phone is the basic package.
When the deal is over the rate will jump to about $120 per month.

I'm with Telus.
I have high speed internet (up to 15mb/s), Cable TV (with a free HD PVR) and home phone. My bundle is $45 p/month. If you want additional channel packages, they cost extra, but to be honest, Canadian TV is abysmal. We only use TV for the kids to watch their channels, but we download everything from the internet (and watch it on the TV).
Shaw and Telus compete aggressively against each other. There's no reason why you should be paying anything like $175. Telus' current deal at the moment is as per the above, but only $36 a month (if i remember correctly).

I think we pay about $135 with Shaw.
When we started up a few years ago we took a different phone package that included tons of free minutes for phone calls to the UK. Turns out we didn't phone them all as much as we thought we would.

Happy with the service, by the way - have always been speedy to remedy any issues or come out and add other stuff as required.

Shaw's good and my aunt's with them. The thing is, even though they have many more channels, I'm barely able to watch 40!!!!

Wow seems like I need to do some more investigating!
I am after decent speed Internet with big enough limit to support my kids on YouTube! Good cable package for kids channels/movies/MTV. And a phone service that doesn't cost bucketloads everytime u pick it up :-)

As I said earlier I have Shaw Extreme internet, currently download speed is 24.31Mbps, upload speed is 2.43Mbps and the download limit is 100Gb per month.

The answer to your question is going to depend hugely on where you live.
I pay $90 p/mth for barely 1Mbps internet (satellite), $50 p/mth for phone landline (Telus), and $150 p/mth for satellite TV, so close to $300 for the 3 services. It stinks when there's no competition or alternatives.

I just got Telus Optik TV installed yesterday. The offer on the website for $36 a month is for very basic TV and not the fastest Internet.
I got Medium TV + HD plus pack + Movie 4 Pack (for HBO) + Home Phone + 25 Meg Internet + 1 HD PVR and 1 HD box and it is $135 a month.
However after 6 months it goes to something crazy like $178 so at that point I will either leave or price war them with Shaw

We use Shaw for all three and the figure quoted in the OP is actually a LOT less than ours is (can't remember exactly what our montly charge is though)...
Having said that, having 6 online gamers in the house probably makes a huge difference...
The family that raids together stays together and all that....
