Having tracked down a reasonable Canadian health ins company,I now find another dilemma.Firstly the questionnaire has to be downloaded for it to be signed,then sent from UK to Canada with a cheque!.
There has got to be another way as this seems ridiculous!.How can they possibly cash my cheque for starters!.i havnt got a Canadian bank account yet!.
Has anyone got any ideas how I can get my health ins up and running with the company I've found please?

Welcome to banking in Canada. You will find that banking here has still not caught up with 21st let alone 20th century technology... and is still stuck deep in the 1800s

What kind of health insurance is this? Travel insurance? Immigrant insurance (to cover your first 3 months) ?

Ok, so just noticed you're talking about supervisa insurance.

Find an insurance company that accepts Visa/MasterCard payments. If you absolutely must use a company with stone-age payment technology, you can ask your bank in the UK to issue a cheque in Canadian currency, drawn on a Canadian bank. Check your bank's fee for this service.

Cashing your (UK) cheque is not a problem. There will be a charge for foreign currency exchange.

Alternatively, as pointed out above, your UK bank can issue a cheque in CDN $, for which there will also be a charge. Have you asked about the possibility of a direct transfer from your account to theirs?

We paid for ours with our credit card. If they will only accept a cheque look for another company. Nothing was sent via snail mail...the forms were completed online.
