Default Being realistic with getting a job.

I know it is a well worn subject, but as someone moving to Halifax early next year, am I realistic thinking I can get a job before I leave the UK.

To give you some context, I work as a project manager in the UK I.T industry. I have a Bac of Science degree in computing, business management certification, Prince2 certification and 14 years PM experience.

So all that taken into account, am I just dreaming or would I be better researching the market get companies in Halifax aware of my existance?

What are your thoughts or experiences?

Many thanks

I'd recommend looking into getting your PMP qualification
Prince2 is not widely recognized in my opinion

What's your visa status, I assume you've got PR as you have a definite moving date? That will make it easier.

Ideally you'd visit in the interim to job hunt in person though, is that possible?

We have PR cards already so our status is less of an issue. Currently studying for PMP and planning a job trip to Halifax this year.

Luckily I stayed with a retired couple last year whose son works in the I.T. industry and they have rovided me with some contacts.

If you look on the Canniversary thread now, there is someone called Charlsar with a thread called 'One Month in - Going Well'. He is a project manager in Nova Scotia, perhaps if you PM'd him he may be able to give you some tips. Good luck.

I also found a job via the Internet company advert. I emailed my future employee and fwd references from the UK. We then came over for a holiday/interview/reccy (2nd visit) and i got an offer of employment.
