Where does that 30k go? My money is on it going into the conservation effort for the rest of them.

I think you are missing the point about the indigenous peoples rights....first nations have treaty rights outside of normal canadian law to carry out traditional native hunts in limited numbers. If native tradition held with polar bear hunting then they would not need a 30k license. But what tribe in their right mind hunts a 1000lb predator when you can safely hunt seals and the occasional whale to keep yourself alive and in touch with your native heritage and culture.

Now, I come from a long-line of traditional small game hunters here in the UK; wildfowl, game etc so I don't have a squemish side not a sentimental side about controlled hunting as in the UK much of it is regulated in areas such as Morecambe Bay, where conservation is as much part of the process as is sport. My dad will sit for hours on end just to get one goose. Others will shoot anything and everything.

From what I can see about polar bear hunting is that when there's no-where to hide and you're being chased by sledges of howling hunters and huskies, you don't have much in your favour. It isn't sport.

Just look at the attached - reminds me of tiger hunting in India a hundred years ago. Only a matter of time before they are on the wildlife at risk register.

Must be better ways to do it?

I think it barbaric the thousands of innocent mosquitoes killed by Canadians and tourists alike. It's about time something was done.

But with mosquitoes being the biggest killers of humans in the world it's payback time!

We're infested at the minute. Perhaps I should sell hunting packages to my bathroom....SMACK!
