Back in Canada at last

We expect it everytime we cross the border. Last year I travelled from Windsor to Detroit (via tunnel). Me, (I am the mum) my daughter and female friend in the car. We were heading to a Highland Dance competition in Romulus, Detorit. I swear you would have thought we were on the USA most wanted list. We were asked to park, leave cell phones, keys and windows open in the car and told to go to the customs office. We handed over passports etc and of course declared everything in the car including lots of wine and a kilt outfit for the weekend. We were held for 2 hours, passports and all were finally handed back. My friend was fuming. I dont know what it is about us, (we have no criminal convictions), but we get pulled over all the time. Must be the red hair!

I once went for a job interview from the UK and the experience at the Customs in Calgary was so unpleasant it almost put me off the country right from the start. After many questions, I got granted a 5 days visitor visa! (I had the return ticket to show)
