Final bit of info to pass on about the forms, as others have noted in other threads...
When you land, the Customs folks at the port of entry really, really, really DO want a Canadian address in the Importer's address box on B4 (the Personal Effects Accounting Document), not an address in your country of origin.
We tried using our US address because we don't have our house built in BC yet. They had us cross that out and put the street address of our empty building lot in Kimberley as our Canadian address!

One problem I did encounter...on the B4E form, the item descriptions can be entered just fine, but when you move the "focus" to another area of the form, what you just entered turns all fuzzy, like it's being rendered twice in not quite the same place. Prints this way too, unfortunately.
I used your form for the B4 and reverted to little-beauty's .ppt slide for the B4Es (all 20 pages of them!). Sheesh we have a lot of stuff. :scared: But it's now documented very precisely in case of insurance claims, etc.

Thanks for the update. Glad you could at least use one of the forms.

I have reviewed the forms and found for lots of the item description and value field there were multiple fields stacked one on top of each other, have no idea how that happened, apart from I was doing a lot of cutting and pasting. I have now gone through all the fields and checked to make sure that there is only one fillable field in each location so hopefully you should not see the effect of blurry input after changing focus to another part of the form or on printing. Please let me know if there are any more problems.

I land in June and am a little confused if anyone can help
. Basically, I've download the B4 and B4a forms from the website. Firstly, if there's only me and no goods to follow, I take it that I just need these 2 forms, proof of funds, passport with visa in it and the landing doc with my photo at the bottom ?.
I read on this thread that some people have 20 pages worth of listings. Am I right in thinking that for things such as clothes I can just put clothes and don't have to break it down into shoes, shirts , trousers etc ?. Can I also give it one overall total or is it best to break everything down and be as thorough as possible?. I was just going to do generic terms for most things as not really taking much stuff (couple of suitcases) but for my more expensive electrical goods provide additional detail ie make, model and serial numbers etc.
I also plan to take a separate list in excel as back up in case I've done anything wrong.
Many thanks.

I would seperate shoes from clothes on the list if I was you.
Also give seperate value for each category and as you say serial numbers for electricals.

Office Contents
‘TomTom' GO 700 Satellite Navigation System
PC - 'AMD' Athlon 2500 server (Self Built)
19" 'LG' TFT VGA Monitor sn: 412WA1999D481
2 x Black office hydraulic-lift chairs
Grey 'Samsonite' briefcase
Wireless IP Internet Camera sn: NC000498766603199
Royal Blue 'Filofax' leather briefcase
You'll also need to include estimated values, in Canadian dollars, for each item. These estimates are for the current, depreciated value of each item (what you could get for it at a garage sale or by placing a classified ad in the paper), not what you paid for them.
In my case, I had multiple entries on my list of "box of clothes, PBO" value CAD$20 or some such. PBO stands for "packed by owner".
I was the poster who had a 20+ page list, but consider that we're moving the contents of a 3 bedroom house, two-car garage, basement etc. We're in our forties and have accumulated a few things over the years, including camping gear, tools, etc. We were also making the list in case of fire or other catastophe where we would need to make an insurance claim, so we tried to be as thorough as possible.

Thanks for the pdf files! I can't open the zip files either, nevermind.
Now, before I spend hours copying and pasting into these forms, can I just check I'm doing this right!
Form B4 E I only need one copy of, I enter my 'goods accompanying' list on here, and use form B4A as an 'overspill' sheet as I have more than 8 items! I'm assuming I only need to fill one form in listing me and my partner's stuff as opposed to one form each, please correct me if I'm wrong!
For 'goods to follow' I just use form B4A, as many sheets as I need.
There doesn't seem to be any real hard and fast rules, I've seen several examples of 'goods to follow' lists and they are all different! I really don't know how detailed these things need to be. I don't think Customs need a list of undies by quantity and colour (athough I could do one if they like...)
Yours In Confusion,
Tidge

Also my meticulous DH has itemised everything room by room (I know) which i don't think we need to do. It's gonna bore the pants off the immigration officials.
You only get one chance at this so it's got to be right, oh well heres to another sleepless night worrying about our goods to follow list.
Now let's go and count those teaspoons!
