I use Hotwire.com mostly for hotel accommodation. I have also used Priceline.com.
In July, 2007 I was able to get the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel for $89 per night through Hotwire.
Both sites will not let you know the name of the hotel until you actually pay for it.
But a quick way to identify the hotels is to use this site:

I was curious as to your "quite expensive" comment. I have stayed at many B&B's in UK and 5 years ago had to pay GBP35-45 per person, per night. They were all reasonably decent accommodation but didn't offer as many amenities as The Royalty you mentioned and, from The Royalty's photographs, were certainly no nicer.
The quite expensive was a direct comparrison to B&B prices here in Northern Ireland, when i was looking for somewhere to stay, the prices (taking into account th exchange rate at the time) were on average approx. 20% + more expensive.
The Royality was fantastic, the owners were nothing short of brilliant and the accomodation was wonderfull. I will not be looking for anywhere else the next time i'm in Truro, it's the best all round stay i've ever had at a B&B *****
