Armed Forces or Firefighters in Canada
My husband is currently a firefighter in the UK Royal Air Force and we would love to move to Canada but are finding it very difficult to find any information at all. I have seen on one site that they are looking for firefighters but this career is never listed when I try to see if we are eligible on the points system. Also a number of years ago someone told me that members of the UK armed forces can go to Canada but again I cannot find any information. I would be grateful for any help received on here.

My husband was UK army for 22 years he is now a firefighter in Canada but as a volunteer he loves it
firefighters in the vast majority of Canada are voluntary as are many services. Its a fabulous culture where folk do stuff unpaid for others.
I would imagine only a big city would have piad firefighters but otheres will know more than me.
There are no specail routes for armed forces to get to canada you need to meet the same criteria as everyone else.
There is the nova scotia community identified though which is particularly useful for armed forces with a pension as it gives you an income while living in NS and building community ties so that you meet the criteria.
huge luck
if you want to come to canada badly enough it can be done

Thank you so much for your replies. My husband will have completed in 22 years service in 4 years time so we will have his pension also. Could I ask you what the nova scotia community identified is? I will try a web search. Thanks once again.
