Default Which area?

Myself, hubby and our 4 kids are thinking about moving to Canada. We want to live somewhere that doesn't cost the earth, renting for first year with good schools etc.

Where does everyone live that they would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there and welcome.

I've seen that you are also thinking of France or Spain. The first thing you need to figure out is even if you can get into Canada easily. Basically to get to Canada you need to find a job, and consequently, unless you are in an occupation very much in demand such as nursing, you'll need to just go to wherever the work is and may not get much say in which province you end up in!!

Have a look at the Wiki (top left of page) to help you understand the immigration process for Canada, so you can see if you would be able to get a visa, and then it also has lots of info about living in Canada, which may help you decide whether or not it is the country for you.

This article would be a great place to start -

Best of luck.

Christmasoompa has pointed you in the right direction. As she correctly said, you need to figure out the feasibility of finding work and gaining entry to Canada. In addition to the link that christmasoompa gave you, the Wiki article called Labour Shortages-Canada would be useful.

Well, those are tricky questions. Canada has six time zones, and the members of this forum are spread across all of them. Still, you may be interested to read the results of a recent poll entitled Where in Canada are you (going)? You also may find it helpful to read the articles in the Where to live-Canada section of the Wiki.

I suggest you also read the Moving Back To The UK forum, and find out why people return to the UK from abroad.

Hope that helps.
