Welcome to the forum.
I don't have experience of working for Alta here but do have 18 years experience of working for BT (non-engineering roles) before me and my better half moved out to Calgary and surrounds.
From what my former colleagues at BT tell me, I can totally understand why you might be looking at alternatives and I was certainly glad to get out when I did. Moving here has been a great move for us.
Some folk rent in coming here, some rent and buy later, some buy straight away. There's no one right way but my new career here allows me to help you with any of these options.
Have a look at our blog below to get a flavour of life out this way and take a look at my www.YourNewLife.ca website. You'll find ways to contact me on these (don't want to post my email address here for spam avoidance reasons) and as a former BT chap, I'll do all I can to help.

Kind regards,
Eamonn.

Fingers crossed the offer comes through. Drop us a line (PM or email) when you have firm news and we'll start figuring out all you need to consider to get across here (including your four legged friends).

As with halfords above, anything I can do to help as a former BT person, just let me know.
