Re: Anybody happy in Canada?
I live in an area of absolutely gorgeous beauty, I work 5 minutes from home, I have a sail boat I can sail year-round that's also 5 minutes away. There's a pub within 10 minutes walk. I never sit in traffic, I'm not in a rush for anything, I eat well and I speak to my family far more than I ever did in the UK.
Is everything perfect? Of course not, but on the whole I'd say I'm happy in Canada.

Re: Anybody happy in Canada?
This poster has made it abundantly clear she loathes Canada with a passion and is here only so her husband (unemployed in the UK) could get a job. She claims she is returning to the UK in two years.
Everything she writes should be read knowing this.

I'm happy.
Usually when I'm on pint 4 and there is sweet potato fries in front of me.
I'm unhappy when I'm waiting 25 minutes for a street car in minus 10.

+ another one. I think JonboyE is making a play for the reincarnation of Judy in Calgary.
To the OP, You've mentioned here and elsewhere that you are heading for Darlington. Darlington (and it's nearby communities) do not offer the geographical advantages alluded to by RICH, nor the qualities of living in Vancouver mentioned by JonBoy.
You've also posted several threads inquiring about electric power jobs in the region and have already been told that the chance of getting employ with the only significant organization in that field in the area are near-zero or zero.
I would add, given the thread title, that I've (on balance) been happy in Canada, or at least not unhappy because I'm in Canada, for several decades. But I'm getting older, I don't want to stay much longer and I've made enough money to make that easy to do something about.
HTH.

I am happy in Canada. As Moo says, life can get in the way, but on the whole our move to Canada has been a good one. We have had some doubts along the way and socialising with negative people does not help that, we cut down on spending time with them.
I wouldn't want to go back that's for sure

Re: Anybody happy in Canada?
I have not be unhappy in Canada having lived here 13 years. I am, however returning amongst other reasons because I miss family and having my kids grow up with family around them.
It is what you make it. If for whatever reason my plans to return don't pan out, it would not devastate me to remain here. There are pros and cons to being here, but can't that be applied to everywhere?
Don't live with regrets, if things work out jobwise etc, give a try. What's the worst that can happen? you go back to UK?
Good luck with whatever you decide.

But to make sure the OP isn't confused, I'm not "returning". Just going elsewhere.

What is it with you and sweet potato fries? They're nothing special. Try fried cassava, that's much tastier.
