another Q about Recce visits :)
#1
We were planning to do a recce visit in October but doubt we'll make it now due to various reasons (mainly money
)
So we decided we could go around Easter or leave it till the summer holidays and go for the full 6 weeks, that's Scottish summer hols which start at the beginning of July
What do you all reckon!? easter or summer? pro's an cons please
Nova Scotia is the place of choice, more specifically Cape Breton
we thought if we can afford to do the summer trip then 2 weeks scouting out NS then 4 weeks making links in the area of choice
Also what would be the best way of making some links now before we go,
they'll be me the missus an 3 kids
we did toy with the idea of seeing if we could get on a summer camp as worker/counsellor type peeps but dunno if theyd take the kids
thanx fer reading

Summer would be nice then you can splash in the sea. On the flip side the contacts you want to make might be away on vacation...
What sort of accommodation will you be staying in? Can still be a bit chilly in March /April time..

I found that I made loads of contacts on here where we then talked through Private messaging and they then became my Facebook friends. This was a bit wierd for me, as before all my FB friends were only people I knew and there were only a few. The plus side is that you can see all their exciting photos of NS, which allowed me my fix of the place.
The other plus side is that you get to know these people and then can catch up on your recce, and you feel like you know them, so very wierd.
Its been a great way for us to meet people there and having their support has been invaluable. Its also great to finally meet them when you get there and they will introduce you to others, also happy to share their experiences and give advice.
Good luck! I think anytime you go there would be great, but 6 weeks is an incredible opportunity to build your contacts there and get a true feel of the place.

Hi Onefut,
Like Howefamily suggested, if you're on Facebook join 'Be's of Nova Scotia'.
Lots of help & advice from a very friendly group - hubby & I land in a few weeks & will be meeting members of the group at a curry night - feel like I know them already so will be great to meet them in person
