Not that crap. No.
It was an example of marketing bollox. You mention M&C and most people think of champers. Anyone who knows about champagne and hears M&C thinks "Watneys Red Barrel". Over-priced Krep.
The Spanish stuff in the black bottle is pretty good, though.

I have a question - how do they work out property taxes? Square footage? Bedrooms? Presence of local amenities? Is there a guide online somewhere?

The site you seek is MPAC. Its frames so you will have to find it yourself.
http://www.mpac.ca/
To establish your property’s assessed value, MPAC analyzes property sales in your community. This method is called Current Value Assessment.
It is used by most assessment jurisdictions in Canada and throughout the world. In addition to sales, we look at the key features of every property. As many as 200 factors are considered when assessing the value of a residential property. Five major factors usually account for 85% of the value:
location;
lot dimensions;
living area;
age of the property, adjusted for any major renovations or additions; and
quality of construction.
Other features that may affect value include: number of bathrooms, fireplaces, garages, pools, whether properties have water frontage, and so on.

When we lived in Ranchlands we had what was called a "restrictive covenant" which dictated the type and colour of fencing we could build and as I understood it the exterior colour of your house. I understood it was registered with the city and became in a sense a bylaw type thing.
Not sure if you've heard anything like this for Tuscany I've never thought of it until now so haven't asked my sons.
To the OP there are many types of siding on Canadian homes mostly it's vinyl but there is also wood, aluminum and some type of concrete. All but the wood come pre-painted.

When I lived in the Condo cum low security prison in Oakville, you weren't allowed to even paint the exterior of your house
FWIW the new house in Toronto is over 100 years old and has vinyl siding. I'm thinking of changing it to wood.
Moet & Shandon anyone...
Give me a Freiexient or a Lanson any time over that cats pee masquerading as the good stuff. And don't even get me started on Mumms

Thanks for all your replies everyone. This is almost my favourite thread now.
A) I started it and got some answers and B) it rapidly changed direction onto alcohol. Brill
Judy - when you say I might have more to worry about than the colour of my house - well, have you heard of those women that buy a car simply because it's a beautiful shade of blue? Well .....
dbd - point taken about the house of anyone's dreams having siding - however, my 'next' house of my dreams, within my budget, will have, on this occasion, some fab wooden or vinyl sidings - 'till I win those millions - then crikey, I would go for gold-plated, jewel-incrusted sidings ('cos it's more expensive, have I got that bit right?) - even if my house is (hush my mouth) not in Canada.
Thanks again all ...
