Unsure about natwest debit card but I've got a nationwide visa debit card and has been no problem using it in America and Canada. If you have a mastercard credit card of course it should not be a problem using them in north america and elsewhere.

You can use your debit card in any ATM which shows Cirrus. I used to be with Natwest, and despite me telling them I was coming to Canada on our recce, they didnt release the international block on the card, so when I tried to use it, it was rejected. Had to call them up to get it lifted so I could use it.
