Unsure about natwest debit card but I've got a nationwide visa debit card and has been no problem using it in America and Canada. If you have a mastercard credit card of course it should not be a problem using them in north america and elsewhere.;)

Mastercard creditcard is acceptable wherever the sign is shown. You cannot use your debit card in some of the newer "chipped" atms because I tried using my Nat West one and it did'nt work, which is weird cos it always had until Scotiabank told me that thier newer machines are being problematic!

Visa credit card is ok...

You can use your debit card in any ATM which shows Cirrus. I used to be with Natwest, and despite me telling them I was coming to Canada on our recce, they didnt release the international block on the card, so when I tried to use it, it was rejected. Had to call them up to get it lifted so I could use it.
