That sound a complete nightmare and it goes to show the different stories that people have about their emigration process.

You are entitled to health cover from day one that you arrive...

OH employer filled the forms out and sent them off for us, in the mean time i had already found a doctors, registered, sorted diabetic stuff for my son and been to see them......

They advised as soon as we had our alberta healthcare number, then ring it through
If you explain that you are waiting for your number to come through they are fine with that or ours was.
When little one went to the doctors they just wanted his healthcare number and the we had $4 to pay on the drugs he needed...
it is real easy, please dont worry
