I can relate - i went through a terrible divorce, lost my home, her family disowned me, mutal friends evaporated, I was facing alimony payments, loss of some of my pension and the reality of living in a basement suite at almost 40 years of age.
I actually spent an extended period of time with family back in manchester and was toying, although not seriously, with the a misguided idea of moving back. Reality was after 13 years out of the uk, other than family there was nothing there for me - i went back to Vancouver knowing it was where I should be and with a sound determination to get my life on track.
It was an understatement to say i was lost - i couldn't concentrate at work - my boss was very understanding - for whom i have a profound amount of respect for.
Almost now 3 plus years on, it know it was for the best - financially set me back years, but have a new gf, friends home etc. (managed to avoid alimony and kept my pension - but lost most of my equity from the apartment)
MikeUK is very right i'm afraid - better to move on, remain civil but move on. A trip home may give you time to reflect.
Good luck
